FilterBoxx Water & Environmental Announces Assets in Nova Scotia, Canada

Sep 19, 2014

Calgary, Alberta (September 15, 2014): Mr. Larry Novachis, Chief Executive Officer at FilterBoxx Water & Environmental Corp. (FilterBoxx or the Corporation) announces the placement of assets on Scatarie Island, Nova Scotia. This represents the first placement of FilterBoxx assets in this region.

The MV Miner, a Canadian Great Lake freighter ran aground upon the shores of Scatarie Island three years ago. While being towed offshore, it broke free from its tow in the midst of a gale and eventually beached on the pristine shores of Scatarie Island, just off the coast of Cape Breton.photo1

After much deliberation due to the sensitivities of the environment and challenging nature of the work, permits were granted for the onsite dismantling of the ship. A 50 person camp will be stationed on the Island to complete all cutting and break down operations of the ship.

“The FilterBoxx CampComboTM system was selected because it provides the water storage, water distribution, wastewater treatment for open water discharge, wastewater collection and pumping, centralized lighting and power supply to the camp in a single package” comments Mr. Novachis. The system will support a field office, a dry shack, three bunk houses, two wash cars, and a central cookhouse.

The CampComboTM system was the preferred choice because it was far more economical to have one packaged system provide all these support services than providing all these functions separately. The system will be in place until salvage operations are complete and the shore of Scatarie Island is restored to its original statephoto2
