Water treatment company surpasses 1,000-day mark without a lost time injury

Brockville, ON – August 9, 2016: newterra, a leader in modular water, wastewater and groundwater treatment solutions, today announced that it had achieved a significant milestone in accident-free production, service and operations. The company recently surpassed the 1,000-day mark without a single lost time injury at its operations in Canada, the United States and South America. A Lost Time Injury (LTI) is when an employee is hurt while conducting a work-related task and is unable to report for their next scheduled shift.

“Safety is a cornerstone of the way we operate,” says newterra President & CEO Tom Vossman, who took over leadership of the 200+ employee firm in March. “It’s one of our core values. For example, every single person on our production team is expected to stop work – to literally bring things to a halt –if they feel their safety or that of a coworker is at risk. That also holds true for our people out in the field installing, servicing and operating water treatment systems – often in harsh environments and extreme temperatures. Looking out for one another is how we’ve maintained our accident-free status for such an impressive length of time.”
